A Beacon of Hope for 20 Asnaf Women in Kelantan

A microeconomic project was carried out by gathering 20 asnaf women and single mothers in collaboration with Masjid Ibrahimi, Mukim Wakaf Raja, Gaal, Pasir Puteh, Kelantan.

The project that started since 2019 until today provide job opportunities for women who have no source of income or have a very low earnings.

Each participant receives a minimum wage payment of RM 1,200.00 as a result of the sewn products.

Among the products they have sewn are personal protective equipment (PPE) used by front-line officers during the Movement Control Order period, sewing school clothes from local distributors, orders for Eid Festival clothes, kaftan cloth from Mydin HQ, PASTI clothes and sports jerseys

These participants were sent to Giatmara Selinsing for training for 18 days, practicing sewing three types of clothes, namely school uniforms, school uniforms and men's trousers. In addition, five of the participants were taken to a garment industry factory in Damansara Damai for 3 months to obtain information and exposure to the concept of the fabric industry in Malaysia.

Said Puan Rohmaniah or better known as Ummi, "this project has given new hope to single mothers here. They (single mothers) when their husbands die, have to rely on JKM allocations every month. Even though it is not enough, they have to asking for other donations either from mosques and other places".

However as this project begin, they felt a blessing has come down to them. Feeling helped with guidance while given the sewing skills’ knowledge and to know how to market their products is something new and exciting for them to learn.

Puan Fatihan, one of the Project Management Division of Mukim Waqf Raja stated that this effort is needed. Now the project has established it’s marketing and sales department so that more products can be delivered to their clients and customers.
